I am a strong, independent, hardworking mother of three amazing children and the wife of the best husband. I am bilingual in English and Spanish. I enjoy drawing, painting, reading, camping, and hiking. I was born in Lakeview, Oregon, and moved to Klamath Falls when I was two months old. I have lived here since then, with the exception of five years that I lived in Macdoel, CA.

Why I Chose ��ɫ��Ƶ and My Major

I chose ��ɫ��Ƶ because of its location, right in my hometown. My major is Operations Management.

My Greatest Learning Experience At ��ɫ��Ƶ

My greatest learning experience at ��ɫ��Ƶ (online) has been that I have learned to be patient and understanding with myself, which in turn has helped me succeed with my work/school/parenting time.

My Plans After Graduation

I plan to become an Operations Manager, whether here in Klamath Falls, or somewhere else in Oregon.

What is math placement and who needs to take it?

��ɫ��Ƶ uses a proctored math placement assessment to help enroll you in the appropriate math class. After earning a placement score, students may register for the recommended course after meeting with their academic advisor. All incoming students must either take a proctored ALEKS math placement assessment or receive an exemption from the Admissions Office before they can enroll in courses. Please note that math placement is a separate requirement from course prerequisites.

How do I get an exemption?

Students who meet certain criteria may be eligible for an exemption. To request an exemption, ensure you meet one or more of the exemption criteria, and contact Admissions at oit@oit.edu with the following information:

Official report of your AP, IB, CLEP, or college credit courses with your name, source of credit (such as your school's name), course name, and score or grade are visible

We'll consider you for an exemption once you provide this information.

If you're exempted from the math placement assessment requirement, you'll be notified via email by the Admissions Office. Unless you've received an exemption from Admissions, you'll need to take the placement assessment to be able to register for courses. Please note that some courses may have other requirements, such as prerequisites and corequisites that still apply.

Exemption Criteria

Students may qualify for an exemption if they have one or more of the following:

College math credit (MATH 100 or higher with a C or better) from a regionally accredited college or university
AP Pre-Calculus, Calculus A/B, or Calculus B/C with a 3 or higher
IB Mathematics or Further Mathematics
Score of 50 or higher on the Calculus, College Algebra, Trigonometry, or College Algebra-Trigonometry CLEP exam

Application Process

Admission to ��ɫ��Ƶ as a degree-seeking student is not required for most of the certificates above. Instead we recommend our Non-Degree Seeking application. Financial aid is not offered to certificate students but a payment plan is available. Applicants to the Polysomnography certificate must apply as an Online First-Year or Online Transfer student.

Follow the steps below to get started:

Submit the Non-Degree Seeking Application.
Watch for an email from the Admissions Office confirming you are admitted.
Register yourself for classes when registration opens.

Non-degree seeking students do not pay a matriculation fee since they are not attending a degree program. We also do not require official transcripts from your prior schools. You could complete up to 8 credits per term in fall, winter, and spring terms, and 15 credits in summer term.

Total credits required for the BS in Geomatics, GIS Option: 180 quarter credits (120 semester equivalent)

All coursework noted here is required for the degree. ��ɫ��Ƶ baccalaureate graduates must complete a minimum of 45 quarter credits with the university. Students must also have 60 credits of upper-division (300 and 400-level coursework) at the time of graduation.

A Little Bit ��ɫ��Ƶ Me
My name is Tessa Rae, I was named after a Tesserae or mosaic art piece. I am a fourth generation in the United States Armenian. I was born and raised on the beautiful Oregon Coast. One of my most interesting hobbies includes roller skating on the beachfront. I am currently homeschooling my daughter while attending school full-time online. I am very active in my community in the many ways I can be. I have over 1,000 volunteer hours with at-risk youth. Many of my elective credits were spent studying science. If I could, I would stay in school for a lifetime due to my passion for learning.

Why I Chose ��ɫ��Ƶ and My Major
��ɫ��Ƶ has a number of dedicated and professional students. This creates a very studious atmosphere that drew me into admission. I myself am very dedicated and studious. I always knew I wanted to major, minor, or dual major in psychology. It not only aids with career development but also interpersonal development.

My Influential Professors
I have had a number of influential professors at ��ɫ��Ƶ. One stands out to me the most. He not only taught me valuable course material but also demonstrated how a model mental health professional should act. His nonverbal communication spoke volumes. He was calm, dressed professionally in a neutral way, and expressed an immense amount of empathy for everyone around him. He taught me the ethical and moral values of a counselor which are some of the most valuable course material I have learned thus far. He made sure that students learned to understand, not memorize. I hope one day I am as excellent of a role model as he has been.

My Greatest Learning Experience At ��ɫ��Ƶ
I have had a number of enlightening moments here at ��ɫ��Ƶ, my most memorable has been my internship at Klamath Basin Behavioral Health. During this experience, I learned much more than I have from previous instruction. The hands-on experience taught me that I have a lot of the necessary qualities one needs to work in the mental health profession. I learned about the Klamath Tribes' history, culture, and tribal healthcare offered to Native Americans in the area.

My Plans After Graduation
Once I graduate with my Bachelor of Science in Applied Psychology, I will pursue a master's degree online in either teaching or school counseling. I have an immense passion for working with children and assisting future generations toward their academic and personal goals. This work will be very rewarding and will fit well with my own schedule raising my daughter as a single mother.
