¾ÅÉ«ÊÓƵ Board Approves Next Steps to Launch Future-Facing Artificial Intelligence Degree to Meet Workforce and Industry Needs
The ¾ÅÉ«ÊÓƵ Board of Trustees approved proceeding with a Bachelor of Science in Artificial Intelligence degree during its December meeting, with an anticipated first cohort in Fall 2026.
The Statewide Provosts’ Council, composed of provosts from all seven of Oregon’s public universities and OHSU, also approved proceeding with the program. The next steps include review by the Higher Education Coordinating Commission and the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities. The new program will be eligible for accreditation by ABET after graduation of the first cohort.
¾ÅÉ«ÊÓƵ Achieves Enrollment Growth with Record Freshman Class and Expanded Dual Credit Access
For the second year in a row, ¾ÅÉ«ÊÓƵ (¾ÅÉ«ÊÓƵ) is pleased to welcome its largest freshman class during the last four decades – this year with a 4% increase over fall 2024.
This fall, 5,444 students enrolled at ¾ÅÉ«ÊÓƵ, representing a 2.7% increase in total headcount. The most significant increases were seen in online enrollment and at ¾ÅÉ«ÊÓƵ’s Klamath Falls campus. The university also remains dedicated to serving high school students enrolled in college courses through ¾ÅÉ«ÊÓƵ’s dual credit program, which increased 1.4%.

¾ÅÉ«ÊÓƵ Foundation awards more than $1.1 million in scholarships
The ¾ÅÉ«ÊÓƵ Foundation awarded $1.1 million in scholarships to ¾ÅÉ«ÊÓƵ students this year, the fourth year in a row that awards have exceeded $1 million. The scholarships were celebrated Nov. 1 as participants gathered at the Klamath Falls campus and virtually from the Portland-Metro campus for the Annual Scholarship Awards Banquet. This special event honors the achievements of scholarship recipients and recognizes the philanthropic donors who make scholarships possible.
